To understand the current state of the web series, it is useful to see how it originated. We look at some early web series, and how the format changed over the years.
In this course you will learn where the format comes from, who watches it and what the audience expects. We will teach you some essential criteria and techniques to help you write and produce your own show. Finally, you'll learn how a web series can be financed and - perhaps - even make some money.
Web series can be categorised in many ways. We look at what definitions and distinctions are relevant and which genres work as a web series.
In this module, we will look at how to write a web series, and what are the requirements in terms of concept, character and structure. Please note that this is not a fully fledged screenwriting course, but we will emphasise those aspects of web series writing that are unique to the format.
Some web series are made just for fun. Others, to earn an income. In this module we look at the financing and marketing of web series.
